Fill Types Explained

Fill Types Explained

The fill material of your footbag can have a big influence on the way the bag plays. Some fill types are better for stalling and tricks, while others are better for kicking and group play. If you prefer a softer, lighter kick we recommend looking at a sand filled footbag. For more robust play, check out the metal filled or plastic filled footbags.

Popular fill types include sand, plastic, metal, and combinations of all three. The fill material of a footbag can influence the way the bag plays, its pop and stall level, and the pace of the game.

Your Play Style

Footbags filled with sand are generally softer and play with a fair amount of pop and bounce. Footbags with metal fills play a bit heavier. Plastic fills offer a good mix of play style in-between sand and metal. Once you've discovered your preferred fill type, it's important to factor in the number of panels and the fill level.

Sand

Sand filled footbags offer the lowest fill profile, allowing for a softer, more finesse style of gameplay. Sand types generally range from fine to larger grains.

Plastic
